Cultivation Manager

This role reports to: Projects Director 


About the Job

  • Oversee ranch operations including farm development and coordination; provides reporting to ABP’s Admin and Projects Director; manages budget and timeline; coordinates purchasing and procurement;

  • Oversees all garden operations including nursery operations and management of garden crew; Responsible for plant health, integrated pest management as well as soil health, nutrient inputs and harvest. Oversees nursery operations and assists in long-term planning; provide guidance on expanding farms 1-4; lead the “track and trace” aspect of the operation; provide guidance on final product mix; 

 Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop ordering and purchasing timeline to ensure smooth operations of gardens 

  • Manage day-to-day operations of ranch including delegation of cultivators and their daily ongoing tasks 

  • Work with Ranch Strategist on prioritizing types of plants 

  • Work with Ranch Strategist in developing scalable efficient operations 

  • Develop ongoing reporting of status of plants including pest management, soil health, nutrient inputs and harvest 

  • Work with the Projects Director on maintaining infrastructure to ensure ongoing, smooth operations 

  • Delegate ongoing tasks such as purchasing, reporting, infrastructure maintenance with cultivators 

  • Assist Admin Director in fulfilling inspection requests, permit applications/renewals 

  • Responsible for metrics as the “Track and Trace” program comes online 

  • Other duties as assigned by the Projects Director

      

Desired Qualifications

Management and gardening (including harvest and processing) experience required; Gardening experience required; Ability to identify pest in infancy critical; Management of work crews experience required; Must be able to work independently accountable to established goals and deadlines. 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling per the needs of the ranch 

  • Ability to manage staff including delegation of ongoing tasks 

  • Ability to manage budgets, timelines, reports, etc. 

  • Excellent communication skills
